Tar Dakar
‘Tar Dakar’ is a 50min documentary film based on questions concerning present-day Africa. The youth of Dakar/Senegal shows how current life is in a huge African metropolis. The film spans over 24 hours covering various young adults for example: the linkman of a reggae radio show, a young stylist, a DJ with his students, a group of rollerbladers doing product promotion, a performance by dancers in the suburbs, an hiphop musician, and a Senegalese who is studying in Germany and is on his first visit in Dakar since three years.The film is an atmospherical portrait of Dakar’s youth with interesting interviews, urban estheticism and many of Senegal’s modern music trends.

Lia Jaspers was born in Munich/Germany in 1977. Between 1996 and 2001 she lived in Berlin, Cologne and Hamburg, studied Ethnology and worked for various film companies. In 2001 she entered Munich Film School HFF. ‘Tar Dakar’ is her first longer documentary.
